Mauro Pedraza Valverde, grew up in the city of Cusco and worked his way up the right way. While studying tourism at the University, he was a porter learning all the basics of how to put these treks together. As his English grew stronger, he worked in agency office helping to check in all trekkers and made sure the teams had what they need. He then spent 15 years working as a guide where he really fine-tuned his skills. While as a guide, he saw how some companies took advantage of their porters – making them carry too much or not paying a proper salary. Other teams were lacking first aid kits and porters would finish the trek badly bruised and injured. He created “SUNRISE PERU TREK” with the only purpose of making life better for the people in Cusco who do these jobs. With the help of trusted friends and family, he was able to create a company that is equally dedicated to his team and his client.

Our Tour Leaders are chosen for their professionalism, experience, responsibility and seriously; Unbridled passion to explore and a desire to share in the experience. They have hiked hundreds of times the Inca trail; they all speak English and of course they also speak Spanish and even Quechua (Inca Language). They are all able to communicate with natives from around the area and will have lots of history to share with you.

FOOD DURING TREKS

Our chefs are amazing and quite simply the best in the Andes. Every day we hear that our clients eat better on the trek than at any restaurant in Cusco. They are well trained and are cooking just for you. All food restrictions are honored, but we always recommend you tell both the office and your guide. The chef will prepare a variety of dishes with enough for everyone to eat. Do not worry about anything being wasted, the porters will enjoy some as well as locals.

CAMPING EQUIPMENT

SUNRISE PERU TREK, has gone out of our way to ensure you are as comfortable on your trek as possible. We have spacious 4 man tents that will only be shared by 2 people, leaving room to spread out a bit. We supply a portable, environmentally friendly mobile toilet tent for only you and your group to use so you don’t have to be subjected to the very poorly managed park toilets. Every trekker will be supplied with small pillows, Thermarest to insulate from the ground; we will supply your duffel at your briefing the night before your trek.
