What to expect at 7-Day Espiritupampa Trekking?

Espiritupampa Trekking – What to expect.

We strive to respect the schedule of the 7-Day Espiritupampa Trekking; however, it may happen that it needs to be modified. These types of situations occur when there is a sudden change in weather, bad conditions on the trails, a tourist or a member of staff does not feel well, in short, when there is nothing left to do but change the route.

From the start of the trek, you will be amazed by the absolutely fantastic views of the Andes and tropical region as you take a car drive from Cusco to the town of Wancacalle located at 3100m. After arriving, you will have the opportunity to meet the rest of the staff, your horseman and cook, and you will all take a pleasant 3-hour walk to Vitcus and Ñustahispana, where you will visit beautiful Inca site.

The following days are not as easy as the first because first you will have to climb up the highest pas at 4100m altitude, then you will descent through farming lands and picturesque communities until you suddenly arrive to the tropical region with splendid biodiversity where the flora and fauna became the great highlight of the trekking. After long walk we’ll arrive to the misterius Inca site of Espiritupama where we’ll find an unexplored Inca settlement.
Espiritu Pampa is an archaeological site in Peru, from the pre-Inca and Inca era, located in the region of Vilcabamba, province of La Convención, department of Cusco.

With its Inca-style architectural constructions, this place has been identified as ancient Vilcabamba, which was the capital of the so-called Incas of Vilcabamba between 1536 and 1572 (called Vilcabamba La Vieja or La Grande, to differentiate it from modern Vilcabamba, of Hispanic descent).

For a long time, it was considered a colony of Inca foundation, however, in February 2011 the existence of an ancient tomb of a dignitary belonging to the Wuari culture, baptized “Lord Huari of Vilcabamba”, was revealed. It goes back a thousand years; which proves, among other things, that the Incas settled in a pre-existing colony. This discovery also reconsidered certain ideas that had been current on the expansion of Wuaris in the zones of the jungle.

7-Day Espiritupampa Trekking: is this trip for you?

Although the 7-Day Espiritupampa Trekking is not an easy task, almost anyone who is used to hiking with a weight on their back can experience it and be up to the challenge, as long as preparations for the event start well in advance. for it to start. If you don’t have any serious illnesses and are prepared to face them, the trek to Espiritupama will be rewarding and could be the best experience of your life. For obvious reasons, younger people need less training than older people because they rarely get high blood pressure or heart disease, but that doesn’t mean 70-year-olds who have been training all their lives and have a lot of stamina will they will do not being able to meet. You have to find out more about the trek and decide for yourself if the adventure is right for you.

How to prepare for 7-Day Espiritupampa Trekking?

Knowing that you will have to go up and down a rough trail for 7 days carrying your backpack of at least 3 kilos for an average of 6-7 hours a day, you will have to start building your strength and endurance a few months before. Plan your training for 5 days a week and at least once a week go up and down a hill with your backpack loaded with 4kg. The more you train uphill the better and your legs and muscles will get stronger. This is very important because at higher altitudes there is less oxygen and your lungs cannot deliver the proper amount to your muscles. So, if you want to make it to Espiritupampa successfully and not cause trouble for other trek members, start exercising, lifting weights and hiking with your heavy backpack to stay in shape. Even experienced climbers prepare for such a challenge in advance.
