Safety First on River Trips

When it comes to river trips, safety should always be a top priority. Whether you’re a seasoned rafter or a first-time adventurer, it’s crucial to take the necessary precautions to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.

Before embarking on any river trip, make sure to research the route and the weather conditions. Check if there are any potential hazards such as strong currents, low water levels, or underwater obstacles. It’s also important to choose a reputable rafting company that follows safety standards and has experienced guides who know the drill inside out.

When packing for the trip, don’t forget to bring the appropriate gear and clothing. A life jacket is a must-have for every rafter, and a helmet is essential for more challenging rapids. It’s also recommended to wear quick-dry clothing and secure footwear that can protect your feet from rocks and debris.

During the trip, be sure to follow the guide’s instructions and stay alert at all times. Keep your hands on the paddle and your body balanced in the raft. If you fall out of the raft, try to float on your back with your feet pointed downstream and use your arms to swim to the safety boat or shoreline.

Remember, an exciting river trip is only enjoyable if it’s done safely. Take the necessary precautions, listen to your guide, and have fun while exploring the beautiful rivers of Cusco.
