10 kilos suitcases:
When it comes to traveling, one of the most important things to consider is your luggage. The amount and type of baggage you bring can greatly affect your travel experience. Whether you’re going on a short weekend trip or a long-term vacation, having the right suitcase is crucial. One common measurement for suitcases is weight, with many airlines having strict restrictions on how much baggage you can bring without incurring additional fees.
This has led to the popularity of the “10 kilos suitcase”, referring to a suitcase that weighs 10 kilograms or fewer when fully packed. But what exactly can fit into a 10 kilos suitcase? It may seem like a small amount, but with smart packing strategies and careful selection of items, you can actually fit quite a lot.
Essentials such as a week’s worth of clothing, a pair of shoes, toiletries, and even a compact travel guide can all be accommodated within this weight limit. By rolling clothes to maximize space, opting for travel-sized toiletries, and wearing your bulkiest items during transit, you can make the most of your 10 kilos suitcase and travel light without skimping on what you need.

Essential Info About 6-Day Machu Picchu Amazon Adventure
Arriving in Cusco
Arriving in Cusco for the 6-Day Machu Picchu Amazon Adventure can be conveniently done through the Cusco airport, though it currently only serves domestic flights. If you are traveling from an international destination, you will need to disembark in Lima and clear Customs before continuing on to Cusco. It’s important to note that even if you have a connecting flight to Cusco on the same day and with the same airline, you will need to retrieve your bags in Lima and check them in again.
For transportation to Cusco, air travel is recommended as the best option. There are several airlines to choose from, with LAN being one of the more popular but slightly more expensive choices. It’s worth noting that flight delays or cancellations can occur due to high-altitude weather conditions in Cusco, which may temporarily halt air traffic. Alternatively, bus travel is available and can be a good option, especially if you are coming from a city closer to Cusco like Puno. Buses in Peru are well maintained and comfortable, although the journey from Lima can be quite long, taking approximately 20 hours.
Transfers In/Out
When you reach Cusco, our team will be waiting for you at the airport. Look for our representative with a white board displaying the SPT Travel & Tours logo at the arrival terminal. Once you meet them, they will transfer you to your reserved hotel. For the return transfer, we will pick you up from your hotel 2 hours before the time specified in your airline tickets. The drive from your hotel to the airport typically takes around 20-30 minutes, but may vary due to traffic conditions. Once at the airport, you will need to check your flights and settle the airport taxes.
Storing Your Luggage
While you are on your six-day Machu Picchu Amazon Adventure, you can conveniently leave your larger luggage at your hotel in Cusco. Most hotels in the area offer secure storage facilities, ensuring your belongings are safe while you explore the majestic landscapes and ancient ruins. This arrangement allows you to travel light, carrying only the essentials for your tour. About Weather
Understanding the weather is crucial when planning your Machu Picchu Amazon Adventure. The region experiences a varied climate due to its diverse geography. In general, the weather at Machu Picchu is marked by two main seasons: the dry season and the wet season. The dry season, from April to October, offers clear skies and abundant sunshine, making it the most popular time to visit. However, the nights can be quite chilly, so it is advisable to pack warm clothing. On the other hand, the wet season, from November to March, brings frequent rains that can make the trails slippery but also brings lush green landscapes to life, offering a different, yet equally breathtaking perspective of the site.
As for the Amazon, it is characterized by a tropical climate with high humidity and temperatures averaging between 77° to 95°F (25° to 35°C) year-round. The Amazon has a similar division of dry and wet seasons. The dry season, from May to October, typically sees less rainfall, making it easier to navigate trails and rivers. The wet season, from November to April, can bring heavy downpours, but it is also the best time to observe the diverse wildlife as animals and birds are more active.
Being prepared for these weather conditions will ensure that you can make the most of your adventure, regardless of the season. Remember to bring appropriate clothing and gear suited to fluctuating temperatures and potential rain showers.
Transportation for the Tour
Transportation logistics are a key component of your Machu Picchu Amazon Adventure, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable journey. For your convenience, the tour provides various modes of transport tailored to each segment of the trip. To reach Machu Picchu, many travelers opt for a scenic train ride from Cusco or Ollantaytambo, which offers stunning views of the Andean landscape and the Vilcanota River. Alternatively, for the more adventurous, embarking on the multi-day Inca Trail hike allows for an immersive experience, culminating in a rewarding view of the ancient site at sunrise.
Once in the Amazon, riverboats serve as the primary mode of transportation, providing an authentic way to explore the vast waterways and remote jungle lodges. These boats range from small motorized canoes to larger, more comfortable vessels, each designed to offer safe and efficient travel through the rainforest. Transfers between destinations are carefully coordinated to accommodate the tour schedule, minimizing wait times and maximizing your experience.
Whether traveling by train, flight, foot, or boat, the transportation arrangements have been thoughtfully planned to ensure you can fully enjoy the natural beauty and rich history of these iconic destinations.
About the Altitude.
Altitude sickness is a common concern when traveling to Peru, especially Cusco. The air at higher altitudes has less oxygen, which means your body has to work harder to get the oxygen it needs. To help your body adjust, we recommend spending at least two days in Cusco before embarking on any Andes trek. Cusco is a vibrant city with plenty to explore, so you won’t run out of things to do while acclimating.
Altitude sickness can manifest as flu-like symptoms or hangover-like sensations. Headaches, fatigue, loss of appetite, nausea or vomiting, dizziness, and difficulty sleeping or exercising are some common effects. If you experience any severe symptoms, please get in touch with our office, and we will assist you in consulting a doctor.
In most cases, these symptoms will be mild. To ease your adjustment, start your activities slowly and stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water or coca tea. Coca tea has been traditionally used to combat altitude sickness. The alkaloids in coca leaves help oxygenate your blood, reducing the effects of altitude sickness. It is advisable to limit your consumption of alcohol and coffee as they can increase urination and dehydration. Smoking should also be avoided as it hampers your body’s oxygen absorption. Lastly, refrain from taking sleeping pills, as they can cause shallow breathing, hindering your body’s ability to absorb oxygen during sleep.
Travel insurance.
Taking a step towards protecting your travel investment with travel insurance is not just a smart choice, but an essential one. Travel insurance offers you coverage for unforeseen circumstances that can occur before or during your trip. Whether it’s trip cancellation, interruption, medical emergencies, or baggage loss, having travel insurance can save you from significant financial loss. Moreover, securing travel insurance is a straightforward process that can be done from the comfort of your home. So, make travel insurance a non-negotiable part of your travel checklist, and ensure peace of mind while exploring the corners of the globe.
Travel insurance is a vital tool for any traveler. It not only offers financial protection but also provides peace of mind while journeying to new destinations. With travel insurance, you can rest assured that unforeseen circumstances won’t ruin your trip or leave you with hefty expenses.
