Lima, the capital city of Peru, is a melting pot of cultures with an incredible history. Known as the “City of Kings,” Lima was founded by Spanish conquistador Francisco Pizarro in 1535 and has since been an important center for politics, commerce, culture, and religion.
In addition to its tantalizing food scene, Lima also boasts a vibrant arts and culture scene. Packing List

Packing List

When you travel, having a well-planned packing list is crucial. Most travelers prefer a small to medium-sized rolling suitcase, which is spacious yet still manageable. Regardless of what you bring, remember that you’ll be responsible for transporting your luggage, handling it at airports, and navigating various accommodations, possibly even walking short distances. In general, we advise packing as lightly as possible. Additionally, you’ll need a backpack/bag for activities and excursions. Airlines typically allow a maximum of 20kg per checked bag.

Here are some travel-specific packing suggestions, in addition to the essentials:

Essential Items:

– Closed shoes for protection from cuts, scrapes, and occasional bites or stings.
– Sun protection, including a hat, sunscreen, and sunglasses.

Recommended:

– Carry electronic and/or hard copies of important documents such as plane tickets, passports, vaccination certificates, etc., and keep printed copies separate from the originals. Copies can simplify the replacement process if needed.
– Water bottle with a capacity of at least 1.5 liters. Avoiding bottled water helps minimize environmental issues caused by production and disposal.
– Power adapter socket.
– Personal medical kit, including mild pain relievers, electrolytes, and bandages. While your guide will have extensive supplies, it’s always wise to have some essentials on hand.
– Insect repellent.
– Clock/alarm clock or phone with this functionality.

Optional:

– Earplugs to protect from potential snoring roommates.
– Phrasebook.

Valuables:

– Avoid bringing unnecessary valuables and utilize the hotel safe. Consider purchasing a belt or bag that can be easily concealed.

Laundry:

– Laundry services are available in most hotels and cities during the trip, but you may need to wait for a two-night layover to ensure timely pick-up. Hotel laundry is usually charged per item, while external laundries charge by weight (generally priced around $2 per kilo).

Remember to adapt this packing list to your specific needs and preferences.

While meals are generally not included in the tour price to give you flexibility in choosing where, what, and with whom to eat, we encourage you to discover the wide variety of delicious foods available. You’ll find that food is generally cheap, allowing for more budget flexibility. Our groups often choose to eat together to enjoy a wider variety of dishes and each other’s company, but there is no obligation to do so. Your Tour Guide will be able to suggest favorite restaurants during your trip.

Simply provide us with your passport information at the time of booking to ensure smooth processing of these tickets. Rest assured, the internal airline tickets will be issued locally and delivered to you prior to your flight departure.

Solo travelers

We believe that individual travelers shouldn’t have to pay more to travel with us, which is why our group tours are designed for shared accommodation and do not involve a one-time supplement. Individual travelers joining group tours are assigned to double or multi-party accommodations with a person of the same sex for the duration of the trip.

Expending of money

Every traveler is different and therefore pocket money needs vary. Some travelers may drink more than others, while other travelers like to buy more souvenirs than most. Consider your own spending habits when authorizing drinks, purchases, and tips. Also, keep the following specific recommendations in mind when planning your trip.

Emergency fund

Also make sure you have access to at least an additional $ 200 (or its equivalent) as an “emergency” fund, to be used when circumstances beyond our control (eg, a natural disaster) require a modification of our planned route. This is a rare case!

Tiping

It is customary in Latin America to tip suppliers such as waiters, around 10%, depending on the service. Tipping is an expected, but not required, part of your visiting hours and an expression of satisfaction with the people who assisted you during your visit. While this may not sound familiar to you, it is of great importance to the people who will take care of you on your travels.

Health and safety for Classic Peru Tour

We want to make sure you’re having the time of your life while travelling with us. Therefore, if you suffer from any kind of medical condition or allergies, we will need to know at the time of booking, or at least 2 weeks prior to the departure of your trip.

If you require regular medication, you must have a sufficient supply before your trip departs, as it may be difficult to obtain while travelling. You must be able to administer your own medication.
Strict food and water hygiene is essential to avoid diarrhea. Make sure food has been properly prepared, drink only boiled or bottled water and keep in mind that ice will likely come from tap water. Also take precautions against insect bites and sunburn. During the hot summer months, it is advisable to carry bottled water in your day-pack at all times.

Safety note

If you are arriving a few days before the start of your trip, please be advised not to accept offers from people to visit specialty shops or to take guided tours. These people are not associated with SUNRISE PERU TREK and therefore we can’t be responsible for the service you receive from them.
