PEROLNIYOC ARCHAEOLOGICAL CENTER
This archaeological center of Perolniyoc is located at 200m vertical about the waterfall which include a magnificent views of the valley and the surrounding mountain scenery. It has an extraordinary architectural construction that dates back to pre-Inca and Inca times. It has buildings like two-story house or “Qollqas” which were used to store different types of products. Also exist 3-walls rooms called “Kallankas” that had the function of lodging, as well as ceremonial and administrative enclosures. These structures underwent modifications during the colonial era to continue being used as an administrative control center.
The Built of Perolniyoc is popular for having one of the most impressive aqueducts for domestic and agricultural water supplies that still are working after 500 years. The Archaeological site of “Perolniyoc” is located in the community of “Socma”; district of Ollantaytambo, province of Urubamba and department of Cusco. At an approximate altitude of 3,460 meters / 11,352 ft above sea level over the Perolniyoc waterfall.

This impressive natural and cultural attraction (The waterfall and the Inca site) can be visited in one day; they are located to 1:30 hours from the city of Cusco by car; just half hour from “Huarocondo” a very popular village for “Lechones” or Baked pork.
Visit Alone:
To get to this place, you must first take a public bus from the city of Cusco to Ollantaytambo. From there you can take a taxi to the community of of “Socma”. Then you have to go through a path until you reach the waterfall for about 1 hour. If you want to explore further, you can follow the trail uphill for an average of 1:30 hours. Once at the top, you can enjoy a magnificent view of the Socma Valley, as well as visit the Pre-Inka and Inka archaeological center of Perolniyoc some people call as a Raqaypata. Finally, you must return by the same way that you climbed until you reach the community of Socma.
