The distance of the Short Inca Trail to Machu Picchu is 11 km / 6.7 ml from the beginning point at Chachabamba (2,150m) until Machu Picchu with one high pass at the zone of “Inti Punku” or the Sun gate (2750m); Machu Picchu Inca sanctuary is located at 2,400m.

The short Inca Trail itinerary
The regular short Inca trail to Machu Picchu begins with your hotel pickup. Then travel for 1:45 hours to the train station of Ollantaytambo. The trail follows the Urubamba river/ Valley until Chachabamba knows as the km 104; here begins the walk.
Before starts to walk normally the tour guide gives you some orientation. After you walk Five minutes you’ll arrive to the Inca site of “Chachambamb”, the continue three hours walk until you arrive to the Inca site of Wiñay Wayna (Forever Young) (2600m / 8500ft). From Wiñay Wayna the trail continues to “La Puerta del Sol” or the sun gate from where you can see the lost city of Machu Picchu where the trekking adventure ends.
